About Us: Silke is a native of Germany and was first introduced to horses by her parents as a young girl. She came to the United States in 1986 as an exchange student working for Disney World and although she had planned on studying the field of industrial geology, her love of horses made her career decision for her. In 1999 she became a US citizen, and that same year she qualified and competed in the USET Intermediare I Championships in Gladstone, NJ, with Susan Decker Bibbo's The Summit, winning the Prix St Georges and placing second in the Intermediare I. Silke, an active FEI competitor, has been ranked in the top 12 at Intermediare I nationally since 1994. This year, she and the Dutch gelding, Millennium she competes for Tim & Joanna Rothwell, placed 6th at the USEF Championships in Gladstone, NJ and were 5th in the Prix St Georges at Dressage at Devon. With her students, as with herself, Silke is totally focused and devoted, she is hands on from morning till night. The results speak for themselves, as she and her students are nearly always part of the lineup when it's time for the awards ceremonies. Additionally, Silke also offers clinics. As a clinician, she has a great understanding of the horse and works tirelessly to help you get the results you are looking for in your ride. Her clinic schedule is booked months in advance. Please call early to book your clinic! She also has a rare talent for working with young horses, laying down a solid foundation of trust and work ethic. A strong yet sensitive rider, she is tuned into her horses' minds as much as to their bodies. Silke says that she has her own basic style and stays with it in order to be a more focused and precise competitor.
Typically, Silke begins her day with a
phone call to European partner,
Gerd Schonebeck. Together they import
horses 5-7 times a year from Europe for resale here in the US. Below you will find some of
the horses Silke has imported for clients:
DeCapo, owned by Shelia Buchbinder & ridden by Silke
